At Shermont, you will find Ordinary people serving an extraordinary God.” Our mission is to build a community of faith shaped by the Spirit for the glory of our God.

The family we call Shermont strives to encourage each other as we seek to be obedient to God’s command to make disciples and to teach His Word to everyone. With humility and grace, our goal is to be a positive witness for Him so as to impact our community, our nation, and our world.

Many people often wonder what our service is like, how people dress, and what to expect. We offer a blend of traditional hymns as well as contemporary choruses, a choir, and often a soloist or small ensemble. There is a children’s message followed by Children’s Church (ages 2-4), and the sermon includes Scripture and application for daily living. You will find people dressed in many ways: from their “Sunday Best” to casual and comfortable; we are happy to have you here, regardless of your style preference.

As a body of Believers, our church is a participating member locally of the Pittsylvania Baptist Association, on the state level, the Southern Baptist Conservatives of Virginia, and on the national level, the Southern Baptist Convention. Our core beliefs can be found in the Baptist Faith & Message 2000.

We invite you to join us Sunday mornings for Sunday School at 9:45 and worship at 11:00, or you can come on Wednesday nights at 6:30pm, where we have prayer and Bible study for all ages. We would love for you to join us at any or all as your schedule allows. Come and see what God is doing at Shermont!
